Unique, Unique, Unique
I truly enjoyed the charming architecture that highlighted its historical significance, making every corner of the hotel feel special. The morning experience was enhanced by a personalized breakfast where I could request fresh items like my favorite sausages, setting it apart from conventional options. the convenience of having free Wi-Fi in communal areas enabled me to stay connected comfortably while enjoying the hotel ambiance.

First impressions matter, and this place fails hard. It’s got a dirty, unkempt vibe echoed in stained duvets and unflushed toilets. The ‘recently refurbished medieval building’ claim feels misleading. The decor is stuck in the past, with unmade beds and lingering smells. Breakfast isn’t worth your time-forget the full English, just rationed pastries at best. Oddly enough, I was told I’d be charged extra for a room change, which is frustrating considering my circumstances.

It was just a fitting option for a short stayover in Colchester with value for price. My room had a small kitchen area, which was unexpected and helpful. Make sure to check the room temperature controls when you arrive.

Friendly and helpful staff made a positive first impression. The room was neat and comfortable, fitting well for my needs, but the shower had disappointing water flow. Enjoyed local fruits at breakfast, adding a refreshing touch to the stay. Its location was convenient for exploring, although noise from the main road made for a less peaceful night.

The staff were super friendly always checking in to see if I needed anything. My room had great facilities like an iron and ironing board. The location was perfect just a short walk to the lovely river and awesome Tudor cottages.

missingWrote a review on May 12furnished roomtea facilitieshistorical vibepoor showernoisy room
The room was nicely furnished but the shower had a poor water flow, which was frustrating. It’s on the main road, so noisy all night. The bed was okay, though I’ve seen better. The tea and coffee facilities were a nice touch, and the hotel’s historical vibe is pretty cool. Just feels a bit overpriced for what you get.

Comfortable Stay with Room for Improvement
While my stay had some hiccups, the room was spacious and very clean. I appreciated the helpful staff, although communication could be smoother. Breakfast at the Indian restaurant was a delightful surprise. For future guests, be prepared for less staff presence at peak hours.

The room was spacious and clean, boasting a double bed, TV, and tea-making facilities, and the shower had decent pressure. Close proximity to Colchester town and North Station meant convenience, making it a solid choice for a quick stay. Breakfast served well in the adjacent restaurant is a delightful bonus.
Poor shower facilities.
