Paid by visa through Booked.net, however when given the room key and visa receipt we had been overcharged. Proprietor did fess up and gave a cash refund for the difference. The rest of the time if was like the Marie Celeste, no one around to ask for anything. Strong smell of curry due to the restaurant downstairs permeated throughout the hotel. My daughter & her husband actually had an ok room with no probs, apart from telly only having one working channel. Mine had a haunted kettle that turned itself on all night, noisy water pipes, each room is given 1 tea bag and 1 coffee sachet per person.Thought rationing was over years ago! The next morning, due at a family funeral very early, (I was on top floor) got in the lift, when arrived at the bottom there was an 'out of order' sign at the bottom! (No notices on other floors, which you would expect to see) Door wouldnt open, no staff about, emergency button in lift did nothing. The proprietor, when rung on his mobile, very unhelpful, sent a non-english speaking chef to aid us! Rang Fire brigade, bless 'em, sorted things quickly. Not a great stay, with the added panic of getting to a funeral on time. Very Fawlty Towers.
We were told the hotel had over-booked and therefore we had been upgraded to the honeymoon suite. In my view no-one in their right mind would want to stay in the room we were given for their honeymoon. The bed sheets and floors were dirty. The bathroom was ugly and had a disabled shower and toilet. The bed consisted of two twin beds pushed together. Exposed copper pipes ran along the sides of the room in worrying proximity to an electric cable and an extension lead. To top it all off, we couldn’t use any of the tea or coffee because the uht milk was over a month past its use by date.
There is no staff at the reception area. The hotel owner owns a restaurant nearyby, so he will always stay at the restauratn. You can never check any information. He only left a mobile number at the reception desk informing the guest that if you would like to contact him, please call his mobile. The room that I got had quite a new bathroom, but there was a very bad smell of plastic in that bathroom. We can hardly used it. Anyway, we planned to stay there for only 1 day.
the hotel was closed on arrival therefore unable to access reception. reception at night was not lit up. room was not cleaned on second day of three night stay. no complimentary tea/coffee refills
Friendly & helpful staff and really modern facilities which was a welcome surprise considering that the building is from the 1700's!
Clean & Friendly
Bed was very narrow and felt a bit unstable. The bathroon is a plastic pod which functions fine but feels like a small caravan.
great welcome on arrival from owners clean rooms perfect food will stay agin , and recomend to friends chuffed with the hotel

I would like to recommend to other travellers to stay in Globe hotel Because I won't feel of wasting your money like other placesYou will really enjoy and feel comfortable.
Everything, it was dirty and there were no staff around, I do not recommd to anyone
This was a very poor experience with staff that did not understand my needs. The room was pokey and not well appointed. It did not look like the internet suggested. The kettle did not reach the plug and boiled over readily. I was unable to use the phone in my room and was not helped to facilitate a phone call. The breakfast was cold and poorly cooked and the ingredients of inferior quality. Certainly not worth £7 50. Wish I had gone to a premier Inn or some other chain. I will not be stopping here again and will warn others not to stay either.
I wasn’t expected to come into the hotel, whoever I booked it several weeks ago. My room wasn’t prepared and finally I got a two bedroom accommodation. This room was dirty and cold, with rubbish old bed. The full English breakfast was cold and I got little bug into my coffee. Internet not workrd. I not recommend this accommodation for anybody.
The staff Cleanse Chick in Chick out
Tiny toilet, tv didn't work, no bathmat, only one teacup, directions to hotel poor when reception phoned. Given a room that was occupied, and another that had twin beds. Initial response was to move the beds together in front of us!
Very friendly and helpful staff Room was clean and adequate.
Only one member of staff spoke English. Room was very small and ensuite was just a partition in the room.
